Fatimah Junior High School is located in Manggarai Regency, Flores Island, Indonesia, about a 6-hour drive from Komodo International Airport, the main gateway to Komodo Island.
This private school consists of two classroom buildings with metal roofs. One building has permanent brick walls, while the other has semi-permanent walls made of woven bamboo.
Currently, the school serves 47 students and employs 7 teachers. All are honorary teachers earning USD 25 per month, paid every three months.
Entering 2026, particularly in January–February 2026, our foundation Bildung mit Wirkung e.V. partnered with Indonesian foundation Lentera Aksara Negeri built a pipeline system connecting the school to the nearest water source. We also constructed a clean water storage tank on-site to help solve a fundamental problem: lack of access to clean water. We hope this initiative improves the quality of life and education at the school amid ongoing infrastructure challenges.
